Our Polar Express Night is December 7, 2019. Santa visits and takes requests in the caboose. (How often have you heard that?!) The whole museum is decorated for the holidays! And we’ve got hot chocolate and lots of activities for the kiddos. We show the movie outside just after sundown. All is furree!  (That’s “free” kind of stretched out.)

  5. Nov. 10th Open House

The November 10th Open house is in full swing.  We have 11 of our dozen layouts and attractions open and running today. Missing is the ride-on train. We’re all volunteers here, and some weekends we simply don’t have the personnel to operate the big train safely.  The 7 1/2” gauge train requires an engineer, a conductor (at the rear) a station master and a flag person to stop driveway traffic.

We have an open house Sunday, October 27th from 12:30 to 4:30 P.M. Meanwhile, you can admire this photo of impressive mountain modeling. Just kidding. This is just one of thousands of gee-I-wish-I-that-on-my-layout real rock formations in Inyo County along State 395 on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada.

  8. Another great open house!

The October 13th open house was terrific. Lots of smiling faces, both visitors and volunteers. You may ask, “What’s the attraction these classic toy trains have for so many museum members?”  Well, aside from the fact that many of us grew up with these miniature marvels of mobility, we just love to see the joy on people’s faces when they walk into our museum, watch the garden layout out front, wander into the real caboose, or climb aboard our ride-on train.  It’s a passion bringing this joy to others.  So humor us, and come back soon!
